XIX Dollscar Creative Zone — Terms of Participation

The Dollscar Creative Zone is a place where ball-jointed doll owners can showcase their personal and group art projects to a wide audience.

We invite you to participate in two categories:

• Thematic stands: "Movies" and "Video Games"
• Fan stands dedicated to a favorite doll company, doll line, artistic style, or similar theme

Thematic Stands: "Movies" and "Video Games"

One of Dollscar's signature features is its large-scale dioramas inspired by recognizable characters and visual worlds from films, TV series, anime, and games, presented in appropriate settings.

Technical Requirements

1. Number of participants: from 1 to unlimited.
2. Prepare at least a background (backdrop) for your composition. The back of the scenery must also be finished (for example, painted in a solid color).
3. Strictly observe the dimensions of your stand. Decorations must fill the allocated space completely — no more and no less.
4. Include at least one ball-jointed doll in your composition.
• Dollscar primarily features BJDs made of polyurethane resin, porcelain, 3D-printed plastics, or sculpted by hand.
• Large-format vinyl articulated dolls, including Dollfie Dream, Smart Doll, Angelphilia, and Obitsu 1/3, are allowed under the general rules.
• Mass-produced articulated dolls such as Pullip, Blythe, Azone, Barbie, Fashion Royalty, and others
may participate individually or as part of a group if they have been customized as OOAK dolls specifically for Dollscar.
• All other dolls may appear as extras, props, or decorations.

Creative Requirements

1. Dedicate your stand to any existing feature film, short film, animated film, fictional TV series, official music video, or video game (including PC and mobile games).
2. The film or game must be recognizable through its characters and/or scenery.
3. Recreate a scene from the film or game, its poster, an off-screen moment, what happened after the credits, an alternative storyline, or a reinterpretation of events. Interpret your chosen subject however you like as three-dimensional fan art.
4. Characters from different fictional universes may appear together (a crossover), but you must identify one universe as the main theme in your application.
5. By prior agreement with the organizers, we may accept stands featuring composite, allegorical, or archetypal characters (for example, personifications of the entire Marvel universe), stands focusing on actors rather than their roles, and similar concepts. We may also offer exhibition space outside the competition.

If you have an unusual or complex idea and are unsure whether it fits the Dollscar format, just contact us and we will discuss it!

Fan Stands

Fan stands are installations created by enthusiasts who want to share their passion. The main focus is on dolls united by a particular artist, brand, or shared technical characteristics.

The perfect format for a group art project!

Technical Requirements

1. Number of participants: from 1 to unlimited.
2. Prepare at least a background (backdrop) for your stand. The back of the scenery must also be finished (for example, painted in a solid color).
3. Strictly observe the dimensions of your stand. Decorations must fill the allocated space completely — no more and no less.
4. Any dolls and collectible toys with articulated joints are allowed.

Creative Requirements

1. Dedicate your fan stand to:
• a favorite doll artist or brand (you may combine two or three artists in one stand)
• a particular doll line
• a single doll sculpt
• dolls sharing a distinctive body feature — for example, all having hooves or all being plus-size
• a particular artistic style or theme, such as creepy dolls
2. Choose any theme and build matching scenery, or simply arrange your dolls against a plain background and let them speak for themselves.
3. Find teammates in the team-building thread on BJDClub, or submit an application with your own group of friends.

If you are unsure whether your idea fits the fan stand format, contact the organizers and we will discuss it! Fan stand rules are flexible, and we may provide exhibition space to those who dream of showing something special at Dollscar.

Fan Stand Competition

The fan stand competition awards first, second, and third place.

Winners are determined by visitor voting.

Advertising and Commercial Activities

The Creative Zone is a space for non-commercial art projects, which we provide to participants for a symbolic fee.

Creative Zone stands must not be used as sales booths. We kindly ask for your understanding.

Allowed:
1. Offering visitors printed materials, including promotional materials, if they are directly related to the display (for example, if a seamstress made all the costumes for a fan stand, her business cards may be placed on the table).
2. Doll artists participating in fan stands dedicated to their own brand. In this case, the artist may own no more than half of the dolls on display. For example, if a stand features 12 dolls, the artist may contribute up to 6 of them.
3. Completing a small number of private transactions arranged in advance (for example, handing over a doll sold previously, with delivery agreed for Dollscar).

Prohibited:
1. Offering for sale anything displayed directly at the stand.
2. Actively selling items "under the table", including repeatedly showing merchandise, arranging fittings, and similar activities.
3. Using the entire stand primarily for promotion (advertising as part of the display design, covering the stand with flyers, etc.).
4. If a doll artist participates in organizing a fan stand, displaying doll sculpts or dolls currently on sale (in the case of limited editions) or available for preorder.

If you need any of these activities, please apply for a stand in the Trade & Exhibition Zone instead. We will be happy to welcome you there! ^^
